What's on

Events & Festivals

Across the worldwide HSS family, the year is shaped by joyful, meaningful gatherings — weekly shakhas, seasonal utsavs (festivals) and community service days. Here in the Philippines we are only just beginning to build that rhythm, and everyone is welcome; there is no fee, and no need to book.

Our regular gatherings

What's on each week

HSS in the Philippines is a community just taking shape — and it has begun. We now hold two free, regular weekly shakhas in Metro Manila, open to all. Come along at the times below, or message our pracharak on WhatsApp at +63 915 857 5603 for directions.

Every Sunday · 9:00–10:30 AM

Main Shakha — Paco, Manila

An all-ages family gathering at the Hindu Temple, Paco, Manila — yoga, games, songs, stories and a closing prayer, for children, youth and elders together.

Every Saturday · 5:30–7:00 PM

Coming up

Special gatherings we're planning

Beyond our weekly shakhas, we mark the season's utsavs (festivals) and hold open yoga and seva mornings. A few are taking shape now.

Date to be announced

Introductory Balagokulam morning

A gentle first session for children and parents new to HSS — a story, a shloka, a craft and a game. Message us to be told the date once it's set.

Tentative

Guru Purnima gathering

An utsav honouring our teachers and heritage, planned around Guru Purnima. The date and venue will be confirmed here soon.

We'd rather leave a slot honestly empty than invent a date. When each gathering is confirmed, its details will be posted here — tell us where you are and we'll keep you posted.

Our first steps together

Recent activity

Even as a forming community, volunteers here have already begun to take part in the wider life of the Hindu community in the Philippines. These are our earliest, real milestones.

  1. Supporting the Chant Mahaveer celebration

Volunteers lent a hand at the Chant Mahaveer celebration in Manila, joining the wider community in a spirit of seva (selfless service) and shared devotion. A small, glad beginning.

  2. Observing the International Day of Yoga

Our forming community joined an International Day of Yoga observance in Makati — coming together for Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) and yoga in the universal spirit of wellness of body and mind.

Photographs from these gatherings will be added to our gallery as they become available, always shared with the consent of the families pictured.

Through the year

Recurring & annual programs

Around the world, HSS communities mark a handful of shared observances each year. As our community here grows, we hope to take part in these too — and we'd love your family alongside us.

Health for Humanity Yogathon

Surya Namaskar Yajna — a good-natured global campaign, held from roughly mid-January to the start of February, in which participants offer sets of Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) for their own well-being and for the health of humanity.

International Day of Yoga

Observed worldwide on 21 June, a joyful, open morning of yoga and Surya Namaskar. In 2026, our forming community joined an observance in Makati — a tradition we hope to continue and grow.

Seva drives

Regular acts of service (seva) as opportunities arise — clean-ups, food and blood drives, visits to elders, and care for our surroundings. Nar Seva, Narayan Seva — service to people is service to the divine.

Dates for local participation are being arranged

The windows above are the wider HSS observances. When and where our community here takes part will be confirmed nearer the time and shared on this page — please get in touch to be included.

Utsavs through the year

Our festival calendar

Utsavs (festivals) are how we celebrate our heritage together — with song (geet), stories, food and a shared sense of belonging. Each carries a simple, universal meaning.

Makar Sankranti

A harvest festival marking the sun's turn toward longer days — a time of gratitude, kites and fresh beginnings.

Holi

The festival of colours — celebrating the arrival of spring and the joyful triumph of goodness, warmth and friendship.

Varsha Pratipada

The Hindu New Year — a fresh start observed with prayer and resolve, honouring the cycle of renewal in nature and in ourselves.

Guru Purnima

A full-moon day of gratitude to our teachers and to the light of knowledge (guru) that guides us from darkness toward wisdom.

Raksha Bandhan

A festival of protective bonds — observed here as Universal Oneness Day, a thread that ties us all together as one human family.

Vijaya Dashami

Also called Dussehra — celebrating the victory of good over wrong, and the courage to walk the path of righteousness (dharma).

Diwali

The festival of lights (deepavali) — rows of diyas welcoming knowledge, prosperity and the inner light that overcomes darkness.

Exact dates shift a little each year with the Hindu calendar. Local celebration dates and venues will be posted under upcoming gatherings as they are set.

Come along

Bring your family — everyone is welcome

An HSS gathering is made for every generation, from little ones to elders. There is no fee, no membership card and no test at the door — only a warm welcome and an invitation to take part.

Children join in through Balagokulam (our program for the young), families share in the songs, games (khel) and stories, and everyone is invited to lend a hand with seva. Come as you are; wear something comfortable to move in.
