Our Sunday shakha · Metro Manila

Hindu Shakha in Paco, Manila

Every Sunday morning, a free family shakha — a weekly HSS gathering — meets in Paco, at the Hindu Temple. Yoga, games, songs, Balagokulam for the children and a closing prayer, for the whole family. Everyone is welcome, and there is no fee.

Paco is home to our main shakha (branch) — the weekly HSS gathering here in Metro Manila. Every Sunday morning, families come together near the Hindu Temple in Paco for an unhurried hour and a half of yoga, play, song, stories and prayer.

A shakha is not a class you enrol in or an audience you sit in — it is a living circle, closer to an extended family meeting once a week than to an institution. Children, youth and elders take part side by side, learning good values by living them together. If you are searching for a Hindu shakha in Paco or a Sunday morning gathering in Manila, this is the place — and you are warmly invited to simply come along.

A Sunday morning, step by step

What a shakha in Paco looks like

Wherever HSS gathers in the world, a shakha follows the same gentle flow — from the body, to the mind, to a quiet moment of prayer. Here is roughly how a Sunday unfolds in Paco.

Arrive & greet

We gather together

Families arrive, greet one another and settle in. There is no bench and no audience — everyone is part of the circle from the first minute.

Sharirik · Body

Yoga & Surya Namaskar

We begin with gentle warm-ups, yoga and Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) — steadying the breath and waking up the body. No experience needed.

Khel · Play

Games together

Joyful team games (khel) like kabaddi and kho-kho get everyone moving and laughing. Play is how a shakha quietly teaches teamwork, fair play and friendship.

Bauddhik · Mind

Songs & stories

Songs (geet) sung together, short discussions, and stories of inspiring figures from our shared heritage — where values are named and take shape in the heart.

Balagokulam · Children

A world for the little ones

Children take part in Balagokulam — heritage and values brought alive through games, yoga, stories, bhajans and crafts, always alongside their parents.

Prarthana · Prayer

We close with prayer

We end standing together for a universal prayer — offered not for ourselves alone but for strength, character and knowledge in the service of all, and for peace across the whole world.

Who's welcome

Everyone — and it is free

The Sunday shakha in Paco is open to all. There is no membership fee, and there is no test of belief at the door — only an invitation to grow in good character and to serve.

Bring the whole family: little ones taking their first steps into the circle, children for Balagokulam, teenagers, parents and elders. Newcomers are always welcome, whether you have grown up with these traditions or are simply curious and would like to see a shakha for yourself. Come once, come often — there is no obligation, just a warm circle and a gentle rhythm.

A Saturday shakha for children & youth

Paco hosts our Sunday family shakha — but it is not the only gathering in Metro Manila. Our Chhatrapati Shivaji Shakha, for children and young people, meets on Saturday evenings elsewhere in Metro Manila, with games (khel), stories of courage and character, and good company.

If a Saturday suits you better, or the young people in your family would love a group of their own, come and take part there too.
